Now, because of the flexible laws for cannabis, it is again stepping into the spotlight as a natural method to get rid of the pain.   What is CBD? Cannabidiol or CBD has the pain relieving properties which is the compound of cannabis. Which is not similar to the other active compounds as the THC in the cannabis. How is CBD made from Hemp?

Image
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical compound that is derived from hemp, which are essentially the components of the cannabis sativa plant with extremely low THC levels. In the United States, industrial hemp/CBD is legally defined as possessing no more than a 0.3% concentration of THC. CBD has numerous health uses and benefits, and is popularly consumed in the form of oils and creams. CBD can be extracted from both cannabis plants that contain THC as well as industrial hemp plants cultivated with no THC. However, extracting CBD from cannabis plants that contain high levels of THC is technically more difficult and requires professional equipment. One of the most common methods of extracting CBD from hemp is by using solvents. Liquid solvents, oil solvents, and CO2 are some of the easiest and most commonly used. To begin the extraction process with a liquid solvent, plant material (trim, flowers, etc.) must first be put into an isolated container. Then, liquid solvents (such as butane...

Everything You Need To Know About CBD Oil

Image
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most popular cannabinoids, or chemical compounds, derived from the cannabis plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD has no psychoactive effects (meaning it will not get one “high”). In recent years, CBD use has become increasingly popular due to its wide range of health benefits, and is consumed in a variety of ways. CBD can be consumed through vaporizers, edibles, oils, supplement powders, and ointments/creams. Of these consumption methods, CBD oil is one of the most popular and acts as the foundation for many others.  To make CBD oil, there are a handful of methods. One of the most popular and organic methods is by using liquid solvents. First, plant material (flowers, trim, etc.) must be put into an isolated container. Then, liquid solvents such as butane, alcohol, or ethanal are run through the plant matter to strip and transfer the cannabinoids to liquid. The liquid is then evaporated to make highly concentrated CBD oil. A second ...

CBD vs. Ibuprofen for Pain

Image
CBD is providing a new and effective way for adults to deal with pain. So why do people keep using ibuprofen? Ibuprofen has side effects that everyone should be aware of. A few of the side effects of ibuprofen are, stomachaches, heartburn, rashes, constipation, loss of hearing, indigestion, heart palpitations, and loss of appetite. The side effects of ibuprofen are serious. The previous list was just the short-term effects of using ibuprofen. The long-term effectsalong with increased dosage of ibuprofen to manage pain include kidney disease, heart problems, and gastrointestinal bleeding.CBD can help reduce pain without causing such severe side effects. Pain is a function of the endocannabinoid system or ECS in the human body. The ECS transfers and receives signals of pain from cannabinoids. Pain is also worsened by factors such as underlying medical conditions and depression. Inflammation is managed by the cytokine immune cells. CBD is a plant produced cannabinoid that can acti...

CBD Oil for Diabetes

Image
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most popular cannabinoids, or chemical compounds, derived from the cannabis plant. In recent years, the popularity of CBD use has soared due to its many health benefits and medicinal uses. CBD has been known to reduce inflammation, combat anxiety, reduce the likelihood of seizures, and even prevent cancer. One perhaps less-discussed health condition that CBD is believed to help treat is diabetes. While some openly claim that CBD is acure-all for diabetes, the truth is that research and medical knowledge regarding CBD’s ability to treat diabetes is still somewhat limited. However, there is evidence that suggests CBD can help mitigate secondary symptoms of diabetes, which in turn helps reduce the overall severity of the condition. To understand how CBD combats diabetes, one must first understand the condition itself. Simply put, diabetes is a metabolism disorder, in which the way the body digests and converts food into energy is disrupted....

CBD Oil for Chronic Pain Management

Image
CBD is just one of over 100 types of compounds called cannabinoids. This compound is most commonly associated with cannabis. However, unlike THC, CBD does not cause a “high” or any type of psychoactive or mind-altering effect. CBD comes from natural hemp or cannabis plants, where it is extracted and added into a carrier oil to become CBD oil. What CBD oil does is engage with the human body’s endocannabinoid system or ECS and make it more productive, or inhibit it, in some cases. This is the system in the body that helps regulate sleep, the immune-system, and pain. For example, CBD can stop the body from absorbing pain regulatingcompounds such as anandamide, which reduces the amount of pain a person may feel. This activation of the ECS system is what makes a CBD oil an option for chronic pain management. For centuries, CBD has been traditionally used to treat a variety of conditions, but only recently has it begun to be studied medically. A recent study by t...

CBD is the Best Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Cancer, Anti-Anxiety Superfood You’re Not Eating

Image
Coming from cannabis plants is a non-psychoactive, non-intoxicating cannabinoid compound called CBD. This compound is becoming well known for its ability to be anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety while being natural and plant-based. CBD comes from the same cannabis plants that contain THC, which is notoriously known for causing intoxication. A Cannabis plant that contains less than 0.3% THC is considered a hemp plant, which produces high levels of CBD. More and more people are turning to CBD as a source for a natural anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and anti-cancer superfood alternative. CBD works with the body’s endocannabinoid system to help maintain homeostasis. The endocannabinoid system is the body’s system that regulates sleep, pain, and the immune system. CBD works to reduce inflammation, can decrease blood pressure, and has even shown to kill cancer cells.   The compound can kill cancer cells through the anti-angiogenic and apoptotic processes. However, CBD has...

CBD and Oxidative Stress

Image
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one the most popular cannabinoids, or chemical compounds, derived from the cannabis plant. CBD is known to possess a wide range of health benefits, and is available in many forms. It has been shown to reduce inflammation, relieve physical pain, combat anxiety, treat sleep disorders, and even prevent cancer. That said, research surrounding CBD is still burgeoning, and it is likely that even more benefits and uses of CBD Pain Relief will be discovered. One use of CBD that is somewhat less discussed in comparison to others is its ability to reduce oxidative stress. That is, CBD has antioxidative properties and can be taken as an antioxidant. To better understand how CBD functions as an antioxidant, one must first understand oxidative stress. Simply put, oxiative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in the body. When our bodies convert food into energy, waste is also created. Free radicals are waste molec...

Is CBD A Potential Therapeutic for Cardiovascular Diseases

Image
The cardiovascular system plays a vital physiological role in the human body. This system is made up of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. It is responsible for carrying oxygen cells in the bloodstream, transporting nutrients, and hormones. The system also gets rid of waste like carbon dioxide using the same systems. Malfunction of the cardiovascular system is catastrophic and often lethal and is among the leading causes of death worldwide. Some diseases and conditions associated with the malfunction of this system are chronic rheumatic heart diseases, coronary heart diseases, hypertension, and disease of the arteries, arterioles, and capillaries. Prevention and treatment of these diseases are often associated with a healthy diet and exercise. However, research is beginning to find CBD as a new solution in preventing and treating diseases associated with the cardiovascular system. CBD’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidative benefits are the keys to being a therapeutic source for ...

What’s the Best CBD Dosage?

Image
Cannabidiol(CBD) is one of the most popular cannabinoids, or chemical compounds, derived from the cannabis plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD has no psychoactive properties (meaning it will not get one “high”). However, CBD does have a wide range of health benefits and uses. CBD has been known to reduce inflammation/physical pain, combat anxiety, mitigate the likelihood of seizures, and even prevent cancer. There are also a number of ways in which CBD is consumed. Some of the most popular consumption methods include vaporizers, CBD oil, edibles, and CBD creams/ointments. Despite a wide range of CBD options, it can be difficult to gauge what method of CBD consumption is best suited for one’s medical needs. Additionally, it can be even more difficult to determine the right dosage of CBD, as well as how to properly administer doses depending on how it is being absorbed into the body. For one, the FDA has not created a recommended daily intake for CBD, so there is no offic...

What’s the Best Way to Absorb CBD (Cannabidiol)?

Image
Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that are derived from the cannabis plant, the two most popular of which are, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC is the cannabinoid that is known for its psychoactive properties, meaning it is the part of cannabis that induces a “high.” Conversely, CBD does not have any psychoactive effects. It does, however, possess a wide range of health benefits. In fact, CBD has been known to reduce inflammation/physical pain, mitigate the likelihood of seizures, and is even used to combat anxiety. However, figuring out how best to consume CBD can be a daunting task, especially considering the ever-increasing amount of consumption methods. To better understand CBD consumption methods, one must first understand the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is biological networks of cannabinoid receptors that help the body maintain homeostasis (biological harmony in the face of environmental changes). Simply put, the endocannabi...

What is CBD2?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the major cannabinoids, or chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD has no psychoactive effects (meaning it will not get you “high”).It does, however, have numerous health benefits and uses. CBD has been known to reduce inflammation and pain, reduce the likelihood of seizures, treat anxiety, and even prevent cancer. The key to CBD’s effectiveness is in the way the body responds to cannabinoids. Our bodies have what is known as an endocannabinoid system, which is a biological system of receptors activated by cannabinoids. While the body naturally produces cannabinoids, the endocannabinoid system can also be activated by external cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. Continue reading

CBD Oil for Health

Image
People take or apply cannabidiol (CBD) to treat a variety of symptoms, but there is some confusion about what it is and how it affects the human body. CBD is one of many compounds in the cannabis plant, known as cannabinoids. Until recently, the best-known compound in cannabis was delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC creates a mind-altering “high” when a person smokes it or uses it in cooking. CBD is different. Unlike THC, it is not psychoactive. This means that CBD does not change a person’s state of mind when they use it. However, CBD does appear to produce significant changes in the body. Researchers have been looking at the possible therapeutic uses of CBD. Hemp contains most of the CBD that people use medicinally. Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant but the two are very different. Over the years, marijuana farmers have selectively bred their plants to contain high levels of THC. Hemp farmers, on the other hand, have rarely modified the plant. These hemp pla...

CBD and Cancer

Image
CBD is a type of cannabinoid compound. There are over 100 types of cannabinoids, the most famous of which is THC. This compound is famously associated with marijuana and causing a psychoactive effect or“high”. CBD however, is a cannabinoid that does not have any mind-altering or psychoactive effects. CBD comes from hemp or cannabis plants and can be extracted into a carrier oil to become CBD oil. Sold in various forms, CBD is making headlines for its anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and anti-cancer benefits. CBD affects the body by interacting with the body’s own endocannabinoid system. This system is responsible for maintaining the immune system, managing pain, and regulating sleep. Regarding CBD’s possible anti-cancer benefits, there are two main effects associated with CBD, stopping and slowing the growth of cancer cells, and the management of symptoms associated with chemotherapy. A study conducted in 2013 by the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology found that CBD has...

2018 Farm Bill Act

Image
On December 20th, 2018, President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill into law. The United States Agricultural Act (better known as the “Farm Bill”) is a piece of legislation that is passed approximately every five years, and essentially outlines U.S. policies for food and agriculture. In recent years, the Farm Bill has been particularly significant because of its stance on industrial hemp, cannabis, and CBD. The 2014 Farm Bill was the first piece of American legislation that defined industrial hemp as different than marijuana, and authorized Universities and state Departments of Agriculture to research and cultivate industrial hemp (i.e. the parts of the cannabis sativa plant that have a concentration of THC no higher than 0.3%). Though the 2014 Farm Bill allowed for the cultivation of industrial hemp under extremely narrow parameters, it nonetheless opened the door for hemp use and helped destigmatized public understanding of hemp. The 2018 Farm Bill expanded upon the progre...
